Hydrological Research At the Bosque
The Rio Grande River defines the western boundry of the CDRRC for approximately 7 kilometers. In 2002, a study was begun by Dr. Sam Fernald of the Animal and Range Science Department. The objective of the study is to monitor the water quality and movement under an area of the ranch adjacent to the Rio Grande referred to as 'The Bosque' or Pasture 18. The Bosque, represents a relatively unique opportunity to study the influence of the Rio Grande and surrounding mountains on a relatively undisturbed riperian area of the Rio Grande. The following pictures are intended to illustrate the different aspects of the study and the information which is being collected. The following photos represent different aspects of the current research being done at the Bosque.
